Why Xbox Maintains its Lead over Wii and PS3

In an era where Microsoft needs to establish a consistent and brand-name product, Microsoft has made the jackpot with the Xbox system. Surprisingly, Xbox kept its lead against its competitors, continuing to outperform Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 sales.   In addition, Microsoft’s console has racked up more sales than its Nintendo and Sony PS3 during a time period of 12 months of 13. First introduced when Sony ruled the video game universe, the Xbox took off slowly and then sky-rocketed to fame. The very word “Xbox” conjures up images of the Halo franchise, Gears of War epic screenshots,  and Call of Duty platinum titles.Microsoft’s Xbox is currently in it’s sixth year since Bill Gates unveiled the “Black Box”  way back in the early 2000s.

The general rule in technology killer products slow down over time- yet, the Xbox shows no sign of aging…according to an independent market share firm, the Xbox 360 owns 48% of the market, ranked #1 Best-Selling console, and the Xbox 360 version alone has sold 537,000 units.

The video above should refresh memories…way back last year, Microsoft announced its new Xbox 360 console, commonly called the Slim. Although it was the hype of news for much of that year, Xbox sales figures confirm that the console is no fad, but a strong, consistent market for Microsoft.

Games like “2K11” and “Halo Reach” have kept gamers hooked up to their 360s like no consoles has done. While the Wii’s WiiPlay and PS3’s popular FPS games have maintained a good gamer following, the Xbox set of franchise, high-quality games are simply too good for gamers to resist.

Halo Reach, the latest installment in one of the most famous Xbox franchise, not only continues the story Halo fans love, but expands on saga, in the package of a great game. This characteristic goes for almost all Xbox games…each game in a franchise expands, it delves into more characters, more excitement, more game. Xbox games are truly a huge reason why Microsoft’s console is nearly unstoppable.

Bottom line: Xbox 360 has continued the success of the long-forgotten first version. Having introduced great console hardware, adding more features to the Xbox experience, and enhancing the fundamentals of what makes Xbox Xbox, it’s rather easy to see why gamers continue to buy Microsoft’s console over other consoles that perform just as well but don’t have the games or features to make a complete gaming experience.

MW3 Special Ops Mode: The Epic Title continues to be revealed

MW3 is following some familiar ground but breaking some barriers and introducing new concepts.Infinity Ward showed off some of the hottest footage and perhaps the most intriguing game mode of MW3- Special Ops Mode.

According to recent information delivered by InfinityWard, gamers will be able to earn money, and play several core functions they previously enjoyed in Zombies for BlackOps. In addition, there will be a Killstreak location where gamers can buy an actual killstreak, and dogs will be presumably be featured as they were in previous Zombie and normal modes of BlackOps.

Special Ops will feature multiplayer maps that can be used throughout the game mode. SpecialOps is being touted as MW3’s major core gameplay..SpecialOps will also be playable offline, solo, will support split-screen, and may even support gameplay using other live services.

Bottom line: As MW3’s main game component, its nice to know that the InfinityWard folks are focusing their efforts on SpecialOps and bringing to it much of the familiar gameplay that BlackOps and Zombie gamers demand.
