Microsoft Buys Yammer for 1.2 Million

Microsoft has confirmed it has finalized the purchase of enterprise social network Yammer Inc. The deal will close at 1.2 Million dollars in cash. The purchase came a few weeks after an enormous amount of speculation from critics and investors that the Software giant should acquire the small social network.

“The acquisition of Yammer underscores our commitment to deliver technology that businesses need and people love,” said Steve Ballmer, CEO, Microsoft. “Yammer adds a best-in-class enterprise social networking service to Microsoft’s growing portfolio of complementary cloud services, “
Founded in 2008, Yammer now comprises more than 5 Million corporate users, the majority of which are enterprise workers and IT professionals. Nearly 85 % of Fortune 500 alone are part of the Yammer network.
Microsoft will allow Yammer to continue to build and maintain its current services, while integrating Yammer properties in SharePoint, Office 365, Microsoft Dynamics, and Skype.

In their typical bravado fashion, Microsoft released an infographic, detailing the many ways both companies will benefit from the acquisition. Feel free to take a look at it…..
